Most of what we use to define our lives, language, history, cultural conventions, are constructed and not innate. They often feel innate and it is for that reason that they demand constant criticism. I want to create situations that confront social conventions to challenge their fabrication and their influence over the way we move through the world. Social awareness does not happen without dialogue and that dialogue does not happen without interaction. By using social engagement, ephemerality, performance and video I am attempting to create a dialogue about our habits and their individual/social implications. The dialogue that happens outside the work is important. The work is a means to that end.
